The 1926 varsity football team won seven out of eight games. The 1925 football season was the most successful to date for SHS.

Other sports offered included: basketball, track, cross country, baseball, swimming, golf and tennis. Only boys participated in the sports offered at this time.

-Elmer "Chunk" Tomlinson Pilot of the faithful crew. Elected All-State Center for two years. He was the spirit of the team.


Fashions of the Day

This is a picture of the attendants of the May Festival Ensemble dressed in formal attire of the day.


Clubs: Examples of the clubs of 1926 were the Thalian Literary Society (girls) , the Delphic Literary Society (boys) and the Philomachian Literary Society. The Beta club was for girls interested in studying the Bible. The Junior Etude club was organized by the music department for students wanting to study music. There was also a history club, a radio club, glee club. The debate club was led by Elizabeth Graham, who was one of Springfield's most famous citizens. Graham elementary school was named after her almost seven decades later.
