  • Images
    The images of markers, historical sites and related subjects were taken by SHS GIS students, Sangamon Valley Collection, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, Dr. Julie Lesault, or from the Illinois State Historical Society collection. In addition, contributions of images were collected from individuals who sent them by email to gis@springfield.k12.il.us.
  • Map Layers
    • County boundaries, urban areas and water polygons are from Census 2000 TIGER/Line Data and were downloaded from the ESRI website:
      http://www.esri.com/data/download/census2000_tigerline/index.html
    • Roads/ Routes were taken from ESRI Data included in the ArcView package.
    • Waypoints of markers were taken by SHS GIS students at the marker sites, by Mr. Stuart Fliege, Member of the Illinois State Historical Society or by other contributers to this project.
  • Historical Marker Text was taken from The Illinois State Historical Society website: http://www.historyillinois.org/
  • GoogleEarth Screenshots were used in this project.
